IBD HAS NO BORDERS: BREAKING TABOOS, TALKING ABOUT IT. efcca.org

World IBD Day takes place each year on May 19, and unites people worldwide to take action and raise awareness about this disease.

For World IBD Day 2025, we are breaking down the stigma and taboos surrounding IBD, particularly the difficulties in discussing bowel movements. Open conversations are essential to improving patient well-being, influencing clinical practices and changing societal perceptions. By normalising the conversation, we can challenge outdated norms and promote a future where no one feels ashamed of their condition. Together, we’ll show that while IBD knows no borders, stigmas can—and should—be broken.
